(In November, 2000, two of the nation's largest educational associations named Connecticut College Professor of Zoology Stephen Loomis one of the "U.S. Professors of the Year." The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching said the award is the only national one given to college and university professors in recognition of their teaching.)
